Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he graduated in 1995. In addition to his part in the drama series released globally as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally well-known Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He was also a key part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television series House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish, German as well as Danish in addition to his mother tongue. He has also picked up many accents. Mikkelsen has stated that he and his brother were able to learn English initially by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
